Translation from Auslan into English (you sign and we write for you):
We are also able to provide translation into English upon request. If you require this service, an additional fee may be applicable as it requires the involvement of multiple staff. |
Why do we need Document Translation?
Many Deaf people are not comfortable about using their English skills. This is where Communication eXtra can support them.
Paul Bartlett has a Diploma in Sign Language Translation from the UK, equivalent to NAATI Certified Interpreter and Translator qualifications, which verifies his skills in providing a faithful translation of any written English text into Auslan. Paul is also able to faithfully translate Auslan into written English. In addition Communication eXtra has access to other translators who hold the same qualification as Paul. You can be assured that the translations provided by Communication eXtra have been verified as to their quality, and are therefore, "safe". |
Where do we deliver translation services?
We will met you after you contact us for the first time and when we meet, this can be in person or on webcam, we will discuss what you need.
We will also talk about the document or text you wish to have translated, and how you want the translation to be recorded. We will also talk about preparation time which is usually 1 to 3, e.g. 1 hour of translation requires 3 hours of preparation. We will then go away and translate the text. When the first draft has been filmed, we will have it proof-read by another qualified translator. Then we will send it to you to preview and if you are happy, we will complete the assignment. If you require us to translate Auslan into written English, we will film the person signing in Auslan and then translate that into written English. |
Who delivers our Document Translation service?
Paul Bartlett is an experienced and qualified translator and he will do most of the translation assignments at Communication eXtra.

How much does our Document Translation service cost?
Initial consultations are free.
When we have come to an agreement, we will then start charging for our services. Please note, we charge by the hour, but a minimum charge of 2 hours applies. Every translation assignment has preparation time to give the client the best possible service. Preparation time is usually 1:4, i.e. 1 minute/hour of translation takes 3 minutes/hours to prepare.
